"It's Always Something"—AKA, "It's Me!"

Do you often find yourself saying, "It's always something!" when reflecting on your fitness journey?

This sentiment is a common barrier for clients who are striving to achieve their fitness goals, and it often stems from a perception of "chaos" in their lives. They recount lists of reasons why things didn't go as planned, week after week, feeling as though life is happening to them, rather than according to their own agency.

I encourage you to consider this: If it's "always something," why is that "something" never what you need to be? Why is it “I was running late so I skipped my workout” instead of “I knew today would be busy to I did my workout first thing in the morning”?

What's the common denominator in your recurring patterns? It's you—your choices, your priorities and, ultimately, your ownership of your path.

The truth is you are the operator, the driver, the captain of your own ship. If it's heading toward the rocks, it's because you are steering it in that direction.

Once you realize this, you have the power to change course. However, if you remain stuck in the mindset that external factors are constantly getting in your way, the true obstacle (which is you) will persist, and the patterns will continue.

As the song goes, "It's me. I'm the problem. It's me."

Moving Forward

Acknowledging that you are the source of the "chaos" allows you to start making significant progress.

Instead of finding yourself at a drivethru window for dinner five nights a week, you'll recognize the need to pack healthy meals and snacks for long days and evenings away from home.

Instead of logging another missed workout, you'll realize an earlier alarm is necessary to get it done first thing, as evenings simply aren't working for your schedule.

You'll also start to establish boundaries in your social life and become more intentional with your time, including when you dine out or consume alcohol.

This is how you define what's truly important to you, and it all begins when you accept responsibility for your goals.

This is the way forward.

Over the years, I've worked with countless individuals who have faced this "chaos obstacle." No matter how many solutions I offer, nothing truly works until they decide to become a priority in their own lives. No one can force you to do that.

If you’ve made the choice to prioritize yourself and now you need a coach to help you walk the best path forward, reach out by email, text or DM! I’d love to be your “first mate” on this journey!
